“Pier Mama” Peggy Glover Featured by My Horry News for Her Love of Fishing and Helping Others
Apache Pier has long been known as a favorite gathering place for anglers along the Grand Strand, but for many who spend time on the pier, the experience is about much more than catching fish.
One familiar face helping make Apache Pier special is Peggy Glover, better known to many as “Pier Mama.” Peggy was recently featured by My Horry News – Pier Mama has a heart for fishing and helping others for her love of fishing, her connection with fellow anglers and her willingness to lend a helping hand to others on the pier.
Peggy has also become something of a local social media favorite. Photos of her catches and of anglers learning alongside her regularly draw attention online. Recent posts have highlighted impressive flounder catches from Apache Pier, including one weighing more than six pounds, as well as other anglers finding success with a little guidance from Pier Mama herself.
For those who know Apache Pier, that sense of community is a big part of what keeps people coming back. Experienced fishermen and women share advice with newcomers, friendships develop along the rail, and sometimes the best memories of the day have little to do with the size of the fish.
